Our Giving

Collective Social Responsibility - Why Giving Back is a Commitment at Milligan

It just takes looking and listening to realize how much need exists in our world. While it can seem overwhelming, we believe we all have a role and whether the need is in our own communities or around the globe, we at Milligan Events, truly embrace the declaration that

We make a living by what we get.
We make a life by what we give.

-Winston S. Churchill

Over the past 22 years, our diverse interests and life experiences have led us to support many causes both as a company and in honor of our team members. As such, we’d like to share a little more about some of the wonderful and worthy organizations we’ve chosen, along with the 'why' behind our decisions.

Take a closer look and perhaps these stewards for change will inspire and pique your interest too!

The Code

www.thecode.org

We all dream of a world where children are safe and free. Sadly, today too many children are victims of child sex tourism. The average age of entry into prostitution is 13-15 years old and these children are often coerced and controlled by pimps. They have become modern day slaves, unable to escape. Joining The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism affords us access to training and tools that will create new awareness, and just as importantly help us to report and prevent the sexual exploitation of children.

Women’s & Children’s Alliance

www.wcaboise.org

We say no to violence and yes to healthy relationships. We believe it’s impossible to address a problem that isn’t discussed. We also believe that increasing visibility for the challenges associated with domestic violence and sexual assault, will create the change we wish to see through increased awareness, concern and involvement. It’s time to end domestic violence and to provide genuine safety, healing and freedom to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Idaho Humane Society

www.idahohumanesociety.org

We adore our pets! Some of us even think of them as family members. A few are purebred, many are rescues, and some have rescued us. Regardless, we believe in advocating for their welfare, and the responsible and compassionate care of animals, everywhere.

Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS)

www.gems-girls.org

We believe in second chances and see young women who have experienced sexual exploitation as the victims they are. We support GEMS because we want to empower young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking, to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential.

Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence

www.engagingvoices.org

We dream of a future free of violence. We joined the coalition to end abuse of and for all whether they be women and girls, men and boys, black or white, gay or straight. We support cultivating compassion through interconnected community engagement and are committed to ending all violence.

Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation

www.idahowomenscharitablefoundation.org

We believe philanthropic energy builds community. Joining IWCF enhances our ability to better understand the broader needs of our local community and how we can help create solutions. Through the pooling of resources and educated giving, we can have an even more significant impact.

Learning Lab

www.learninglabinc.org

We know literacy and illiteracy significantly impact the quality of life of the individual and their extended family. We also know that having the ability to read and comprehend helps people function at higher levels by increasing career aspirations as well as the opportunity to make a decent wage. We support the Learning Lab’s ambitious goal of eradicating illiteracy for all.

South Seattle Community College

www.southseattle.edu

We believe in preserving the future of our industry by fostering the efforts of those who are just getting started in it. We have a commitment to nurturing new talent, through supporting and providing real time opportunities where new skills can be put into practice.

Test

The Cabin

http://www.thecabinidaho.org/
